Taking your yoga practice to the the beach where Heaven and Earth meet is instantly soothing, calming and healing for the soul. Bringing your awareness to your breath you automatically become connected to the present moment.
Connecting with nature and your inner truth is a great way to cultivate positive new energy into your whole being on so many levels. Mentally, physically, emotionally and spiritually.
Breathing in the fresh sea air has so many health benefits that are also enhanced by practicing yoga outside on the beach.
Beach yoga challenges you in all sorts of different ways, you become more focused, creative, build strength and flexibility in different muscles of your body and enhances your mood and overall health and well-being.
Creativity and challenges come especially in balancing poses like the Tree pose, Vrikshasana one of my favourites! As you balance on one leg, on the uneven surface standing on the small pebbles or in the sand spreading your toes wide you are grounding yourself into the Earth, you become supported and able to plant your roots deeper and lift your heart higher towards the sky. Allowing you to be flexible in your body and mind as your body then begins to gently sway in the breeze showing can go with the flow in your daily life too, bending in the wind so you don’t break!
Being at the beach the scenery is different each time, as the colours of the sea and sky are always changing, with the tides and the weather. Reflecting on how our lives are also constantly changing as we allow ourselves to adapt to different situations. Practicing yoga is far more than just stretching and making shapes with your body!
“Yoga allows you to find a new kind of freedom that you may not have known even existed” l really love this quote by B.S.K Iyengar who is considered one of the most famous yoga teachers in the world.
On a spiritual level come along with an open mind and a willingness to experience yoga in a totally different way. Try it for yourself to find out what it feels like for you.
